Treasure Map

Ahoy there! And here lies a treasure map, fresh from the grasp of a pirate. I've been wanting to make one for a long time. I had some fun pirate material and thought that it would look great on the back of a map. After going to an expert on what one could find on a treasure map I settled on mountains, trees, swords, a ship, and of course a treasure!
The pictures were sewn in felt. Simple yet fun. I hope this works it's way into the hands of a little explorer.

Keep up.

Sometimes I feel so stretched thin. So many things are important to me it's hard to put anything aside. I've had to work on some non-Bedtime Tales projects of late, so instead of ignoring you completely I decided to post a tiny tidbit I've been wanting to share with someone. Okay, are ya ready?
Pandora has a Walt Disney station!

Okay, yeah, I know it's not all that exciting, but not having any children's music myself I was very pleased to discover this. There's great music on there. It brings up songs you've long forgotten. So turn off the Ipod and share some great Disney tunes with the little ones.

P.S. If you know of any rad stations I must be informed of please comment them. I'm also a fan of the Ingrid Michaelson and Newton Faulkner stations.

Giveaway Winner!

Wow, what awesome responses to my first ever giveaway. Thank you so much for your comments! I really appreciated the ones with new ideas we can try on the blog, so hopefully I can get some of them rolling. As always I just love feedback and I read every comment I receive. If you ever want to say anything about anything, you are welcome to it!

I held my drawing the old fashioned way, I wrote all of the contestants names down on small pieces of paper this morning and had my husband pick one without looking. And the winner is...... Barb!
If she could please email me at madebybedtimetales@gmail.com that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry I am unable to give away dolls to everyone who entered, if you are still interested in them then please visit my Etsy shop, bedtimetales.etsy.com, throughout the coming week to find more that I will post there. I actually have many of them made, I just need to be finishing their hair over the next few days.

And introducing my slumber party doll! She comes in her comfy cozy pajamas and with a cuddly little teddy bear. A companion any little girl would be happy taking to a sleepover.

Pin Cushion

After a few years of losing pins, needles, of scratched wrists, and plain annoyingness I finally updated my pin cushion. The one I've been using came with the sewing-for-beginners pack I bought for my first sewing class in high school. As I remember it there used to be a red tomato too, but all that I have now is a red wristband. I've seen some very cute and creative pin cushions, but the design for my new one is super simple. I really didn't have much time so you can still see a few hot glue gun smudges, but I like it nonetheless.
I took a tiny baby jar and glued some fabric on the bottom and insides. Then i stuffed it to overflowing and glued some more fabric around the top. My original idea was to have the cushion not popping out and be able to put the lid back on. I would love a closing pin cushion. But I realized that the jar was just super tiny and to save myself frustration in the future I nixed the idea.
If anyone has ideas for a closing pin cushion, please comment. I would be very interested.

Bedtime Tales Shop Opening!

Finally, after months of preparation I'd like to announce the opening of my Etsy shop!
You can find it at http://www.bedtimetales.etsy.com/
I will be the first to admit that there isn't much of an inventory yet, but I'll continue to add as fast as I can. Most of what you find on here will be in my shop. I will be making more dolls soon and they will hopefully be available by the time I announce the winner to my first giveaway.

Thanks so much for all your support!
You are welcome to check out my shop!

Patch-it Book

My daughter's birthday is coming up next week and it took me a while to decide on what gifts I wanted to get, and finally I decided. She loooves her books, but instead of buying some more I decided to make one tailored to her. I really just had a bunch of fun fabric and ideas swirling in my head so I decided to get them all down and sew a binding on the back. There are no words, I hope she learns to make up her own stories as she turns the pages.

I call it her Adventure in pajamas

First Giveaway - Ballerina

Welcome to my first giveaway.

A Beautiful Ballerina
She is a little less than 10 inches tall, pink and peach, and antsy to dance around. I really have had a hard time refraining from naming her for you. She will arrive to the winner packaged the same way I will send all of the products from my shop.
I have been thinking for a long time what would be my first giveaway. I've come up with a few different ideas and some of them will emerge in the coming weeks. The reason I picked this one to go first is because I was so excited about the project going well that I was sewing on her until two in the morning. I have finally finished and now that her photo shoot is over, well here you go.

Some FAQ answers before they come:
What is a giveaway?
Well basically this giveaway has two purposes
1. I wanted so badly to sew a ballerina and give it away. She really was so much fun to make and design.
2. I would like you to tell your friends about my blog or the giveaway in return.
How do I apply to be the lucky winner?
In two very simple steps:
- Tell someone about the giveaway.
- After you have shared the news then comment on this post.
To comment on this post simply click on the post title and leave your comment there. Please only one entry per applicant.
How shall I tell others about the giveaway?
Easy. It could be by word of mouth, short email, or a link from your blog back to mine. Don't stress over it.
What sort of comment should I leave?
Anything will do. It doesn't have to be long. What would you like to see more of on this blog? Any ideas for a tutorial? Feedback would be perfect, but anything will work. If you write something I will know that you have shared the news of a giveaway on my blog and you will have a chance to win.
How will the winner be chosen?
I will enter all of the names into a drawing and pick a winner at random.
When will the winner be announced?
Two weeks from today, November 16th. Please check back on this day. You will have 24 hours to email me at the following address to claim your prize: madebybedtimetales@gmail.com

I really hope anyone who wants to enter does, family, friend, or other, whether you have a little girl around or not. She would be the perfect gift. It's really easy and completely free. If you have any questions send me an email.
